Firstly we will cover my 'Required' choices. These are things that most people have or should have in my opinion.
Recount- This addon used to be a big annoyance to me. During Cataclysm dungeons jerks would link dps after every fight and boast how they were the best in the world omgerd and we were all noobs. Now that I am raiding, I see it more as a tool to see how well I am doing, I like to try to climb up the dps ranks and it makes me proud when I do. I'm not about to go linking it in chat unless asked, however, I still think that is a jerk move.
Deadly Boss Mods- If you do not have this addon, I don't know how you play anything! It covers everything from how to defeat Garrosh to how to land in the target in the water after being flung out of a cannon at Darkmoon Fair. Aside from this it is excellent for telling you what to avoid in raids and dungeons, which is always handy.
Healbot Continued- This isn't a must for healers because I know at least one person who has never used it, never will and quite frankly doesn't need to, but let's face it, it helps and I personally do use it if I am going to heal. It's smooth and fast (mostly) and it's a nice way to keep HoTs on people.
Those would be my core three that I think most people would have... However, there are more that I personally feel are a must forme. Those are:
GTFO- GTFO (Get the f*ck out!) as it is called, remind you to do exactly that. If you stand in something it makes a buzzer sound so you know you are stood in something harmful and you need to GTFO. It sounds obvious but with the ever changing aspects of aoes in WoW looking like heals etc and worrying about tactics and everything else, it's nice to have a
CoolLine Cooldowns- This is like a lot of other adds that are similar but I liked this one as it is a small thin, easy to position, easy to customise (mine is pink of course!) line. Basically when your spell has a cooldown it reaches the end of the bar when it is ready, it's like a timeline of what is available next. It's very handy and like I pointed out it's very lightweight so it doesn't crowd your screen with unnecessary rubbish.
This last one is more bitchy than required, but it will sure as hell help (I hope, I only found it today), it's called Who Pulled? which says who pulled... simple as that. I don't have a link for it right now as I just searched the database for it as I am typing all of this and can't find it, but I will mention it again in a future blog and try to link it there. Either way, I think it's going to be handy. At least once a week there is some pug that pulls and everyone is like 'who the f*ck pulled!?!' and now I will know [insert evil laugh].
Moving onto the rest now which are Lazy or Useful. I find most of them useful and yet some people will call them lazy... each to their own, I say! I'll label them how I class them... honestly of course.
NPCScan- A lot of you will have heard of this and I think it is very useful because it really does help to find new rares to kill. I wish you could disable lower end rares if you wanted to, like ones near the starting areas and also I wish you didn't have to manually reset your cache but beggars can't be choosers and it really does help.
RareCoordinator- Only having gotten this addon today, as I thought it was time, due to the fact that I farm Timeless Isles every day, I don't fully know how awesome it is yet. I know that others can use it by typing 'raretimer' and then the name of the rare they want information from on Timeless Isle and it will tell them in general chat, which is handy but as far as what I can do with it so far I know very little. The interface/hud itself is fairly large on my screen which I found a little annoying and the sound it makes is a gorky sounding guy saying 'ding' when a rare pops up, which makes me laugh, but aside from that it's kinda a good list of the rares with how long since their last known spawn and if you mouse over their names it shows a map of where they spawn etc. While it's useful, it takes up a lot of room on my screen. Granted it can be minimised, which is nice but other than that it's huge, so I might not use it often.
AskMrRobot- This is a very handy addon from the website Ask Mr Robot, which for those of you who don't know, is a very good website for looking up what you should reforge, gem, enchant and upgrade. What this addon does it automatically does ALL of those things, it reforges automatically, gives you a gem and enchant shopping list and even gems your gear automatically once you have bought the gems. This one is definitely lazy, but I love it and it saves me so much time!
Auctionator- This is very useful. It helps to use the auction house, using a percentages to work out just how to undercut the competition and optimise your sales. It also makes it so you can find materials quickly using shopping lists directly from your profession windows, which makes it very quick to craft things that perhaps you don't have time to farm for and would rather just buy.
Another useful addon that I found today was BadPet this is simply an addon that tells warlocks and hunters when their pets have growl or taunts on etc. It politely tells them in a whisper, which is nice and I only found it out because I accidentally left my pet's growl on earlier and someone had it. It was a nice touch to let me know in whispers so I didn't feel like any more of a noob in the group. In my defense I haven't played a hunter in about a year now and I had a cunning pet, which didn't use to have growl really and if they did, it was featured on their pet bar but now, for me at least, it is not. Either way it;s very handy!
CrapAway! - This is arguably the most lazy addon that I have. It simply automatically sells all your grey items to the vendor as soon as you click on him/her. It's lazy but it clears my bags out for me and saves me checking through everything. Bite me! haha!
GoGoMount!- Another lazy addon! This one allows you to press a button combination to mount and dismount. You can have it so it provides you with a random mount (zone specific, i.e. non-flying for some zones) or you can configure it to only use specific mounts. It also works for hunter aspects for when you are indoors and even the shaman wolf form... thing... haha. It probably works for druids too, but I don't have one so I don't know. I like this cause I can mount faster (I use a touch pad to play, so trying to click on a mount that is on the other side of the screen can take time) and also I can save action bar space for more important things. I liked using the random mount picker as it used a lot of ones I forgot I even had. You can configure it to miss out mounts you don't like, pick from one or two, keep the same ones all time time, even pick a different mount for each zone if you were so inclined.
Postal- Lazy and useful. It allows you to 'open all' mail, which pours the contents into your bags, especially good if you use the auction house a lot, like I do. It also lets you pick from a list of alts who you want to send to and even from a recently mailed list too.
I don't currently have any addons in the 'pretty' section because I am mostly going for functionality and less lag to be honest. If I find any soon, I'll let you all know... they may end up being pink or My Little Pony related... trust me, I have tried to find some before, haha!
So those are all the addons I use on a daily basis, I obviously turn most of them off when I am raiding unless they are important to me. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me in world or here in the comments. Also, feel free to share some of your addons, you never know, we might find some real gems!
